“Funny how the new things are the old things.”
- Rudyard Kipling
When do you consider a purchase? 1. You attend many shows throughout the year – you need to consider gathering an exhibit inventory for different types of shows and different size booth spaces at shows. 2. When you have specific needs within your exhibit space such as, demo areas for particular products, cooking areas that can be very costly to rent at each show, unique items such as wiring, specific logo colors, one-of-a-kind product displays – anything that creates out of reach rental bills. 3. When you are branding your product and your exhibit needs to reflect your overall company branding.
It’s all about the buzz – the stir you create and the attention you receive on the show floor. The Studio Abex exhibit system combines modular panels, fabric structures, collapsible truss, and aluminum extrusions with unique POP and merchandising capabilities to create exhibit solutions as breathtaking as they are functional. Best of all, every Studio Abex trade show exhibit booth retains all the benefits of portable modular like light weight, ease of set up and the ability to reconfigure your exhibit to meet changing marketing and event requirements. We have worked closely with Abex since the inception of Absolute Exhibits and find their quality and workmanship to be head and shoulders above the competition.
Ultimately, many companies are looking to hybrid exhibit designs and forgoing a complete custom exhibit. Custom exhibits can be stunning, however, so can a hybrid that offers a cutting-edge image of custom display with the flexibility and value of a modular display. A custom exhibit built for a particular booth space is far more difficult to maneuver into different exhibit spaces than a hybrid that is designed with forethought for different sizing. With a minimal amount of changes in graphics or tension fabrics – your exhibit can have an entirely new appearance. Additionally by using lighter weight components material handling costs are much lower. Take a look at these four recently designed exhibits and remember that this methodology can be used in smaller inline spaces as well. Click on each picture for a larger view.

There is a new term in the exhibit industry – the Hybrid Modular Exhibit Display. It employs one of our industry’s more overused and least understood terms “modular.” Modular is the 10’ portable pop-up as well as a custom exhibit that is built in modules. The concept behind modular is really the ability to reconfigure your exhibit to fit your space and also to transform your look from show to show. Many custom exhibit buyers are looking for alternatives to the costs associated with custom exhibits because their budgets have been slashed or they are simply looking for more “bang for the buck” across their total exhibit inventory. The alternative is often modular, or a hybrid custom and modular exhibit. Now about hybrids - that is the really new term inside the exhibit industry. Hybrid modular exhibit displays combine a modular wall, curve, or counter system, usually panel or pop-up systems, with custom exhibit elements. These hybrids reduce the total weight of an exhibit and the initial exhibit cost, while offering custom elements that meet a company’s specific marketing needs. In this way, we can use the strength of creative design and the functionality of modular hardware to create a dynamic and more costeffective exhibit than in a strictly custom-built display. A hybrid can offer design solutions not available using standard modular components.

How much modularity you require depends on knowing your specific exhibit requirements, budget and long-term needs. In many cases being portable takes priority over limitless design choices. In other circumstances, unlimited re-configurability provides the basis for all future display choices. For those who require custom solutions, the answer may be custom exhibit modules or custom/modular hybrid displays. In the end, be shrewd and judicious and ask lots of questions. Look for display products and exhibit professionals to match your particular needs.
