I probably address this situation three to five times a week — have you seen the actual rental exhibit work through show floor photographs or are you buying a pretty picture? This came to light yesterday on the SEMA show floor and it was a really ugly picture. The exhibitor bought into a beautiful rendering complete with arched entry— really exquisite. At 200 yards at a distance — the exhibit looked great. Then you got closer and what a horrible mess. Starting at the bottom — thin flannel-like carpet, no pad, with holes and wires poking through from the show electrical. Unfinished walls, unfinished panels, and the beautiful arch was a shamble. Old furnishings. All for $75,000-$80,000 and a matching neglected wreck across the way for their tire company for another $18,000.
