The first annual JPMA Baby Show made it’s debut at the Anaheim Convention Center earlier this year.

Co-hosted by the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) and Family Media, LLC, the juvenile products industry event consisted of three days of trade show exhibits and two days of educational programming, culminating with the largest consumer baby show floor in North America!

The JPMA Baby Show featured over 300,000 square feet of curated exhibit space and over 5,000 exhibitors, juvenile product buyers, distributors, manufacturers and media outlets from around the world.

Of those exhibitors was our client, Cybex. But with only six weeks to build before the show, we knew we had to jump into high gear to meet the tight deadline and avoid issues on the show floor.

Concept and Design

Cybex is a global leader in child safety and innovative lifestyle and fashion brand. Headquartered in Germany, the company designs and manufactures luxury, award-winning car seats, baby carriers and strollers that meet the highest safety standards and adapt perfectly to urban lifestyles.

Cybex partnered with Absolute Exhibits to construct its 5,000 square foot custom trade show booth and an adjacent 1,200 square foot lounge, both of which would be shared by Cybex and its parent company, Goodbaby International Holdings Ltd. (GB).

“Our aim was to find a reliable, flexible partner for the 2017 JPMA Baby Show and potential upcoming fairs,” said Andreas Skotnik, Director Trade Marketing and Director Corporate Architecture at Cybex. “Especially important [to us] was excellent project management and teamwork with high execution quality standards.”

The 50 x 100-foot Cybex / GB booth was artfully designed by Nikolai Kaindl, Senior Manager Corporate Architecture at Cybex, with wide open aisles for smooth traffic flow and high-gloss black and white laminated surfaces throughout the booth for a sleek and modern look.

“The Cybex brand is world-renowned and represents quality and luxury,” said Günter Schneider, Senior Account Executive at Absolute Exhibits. “The glossy walls and flooring helped create an environment that embodied those same brand principles.”

Cybex Platinum collection display with CNC cut 3D shapes

The Cybex Platinum collection backdrop was created by cutting intricate shapes of trees, buildings, birds and butterflies out of 1 inch thick contra using a computer-controlled cutting machine called a CNC router. We stacked each layer onto one another to create elegant 3D visuals and added color to a select few shapes to help them pop out against the white wall.

Nearly all booth graphics were printed on DreamScape, a premium textured media specially developed and optically tuned for wide-format printing, rather than Sintra PVC board, which is the more common media for graphics. The result was graphics that were sharper, more vibrant and better defined close up and afar.

The cantilevered wall graphics were created using hollow wooden boxes that were secured onto the wall and covered with graphics printed on DreamScape.

Several black gloss acrylic letters and logos were cut using a CNC router. This state-of-the-art machinery allowed us to cut intricate 3D objects out of a thin 1/4 inch material, which made them nearly flush with the walls.

The letters “GB” (ie. GoodBaby) were 3D cut Sintra PVC board placed over orange DreamScape on the outside perimeter walls.

In the adjacent space, Cybex and GB shared a 30×40-foot lounge area with brand new, ultra-white furniture, including couches, tables and chairs.

An extra large storage room provided booth staff ample space for storing suitcases, chairs, computer bags, snacks, boxes and other items.

iPad stands with locking cabinets could be oriented to be landscape or vertical.

RESULTS

“Absolute Exhibits was able to provide us with the best solution in terms of quality and price in such a short time frame,” said Skotnik. “We really enjoyed working with the on site team. JPMA was a success due to the good organization, project management and execution by the team.”

Absolute Exhibits will be assisting Cybex at the upcoming ABC Kids Expo and next year’s JPMA Baby Show.
